The K12 Scholars Program provides training to guide Scholars towards independent careers in clinical and translational research and translational science. Through this program, Scholars are given 75% protected time and $25,000 in researcher funds to build essential translational research skills in team science, leadership, community engagement, mentorship, and communication.

Didactic & Experiential Training
Scholars receive individualized didactic training in translational science and domain-specific research skills through a case-based Translational Science Skills Laboratory and personalized coursework.

Cross-Disciplinary Career Development
Scholars build leadership, management, and network-building skills, developing the knowledge and professional communities needed to thrive as translational scientists and leaders.

Multidisciplinary Mentoring
Scholars are supported by multidisciplinary mentoring teams throughout their research — and are trained to become effective mentors themselves, preparing them to guide the next generation of scholars.

Building on this training, K12 Scholars go on to compete successfully for NIH K- and R-level funding as they transition to independent research careers.
