Nondegree Coursework and Permission Numbers

Nondegree Coursework:

If you are interested in taking one of our courses as a nondegree student please contact icre@pitt.edu, in the email include your full name and the title of the course(s) you are interested in taking. In addition, you are required to complete our nondegree application. Please click here for the application (there is a radio button to denote nondegree).

Please note that our degree seeking students are given enrollment priority for all of our classes, enrollment for nondegree students is decided on a case by case basis based on class capacity and prerequisite requirements.

The ICRE has a nondegree policy which limits the number of courses you can take as a nondegree student. A nondegree student may take up to 9 credits of coursework with the ICRE. If a student wishes to take more than 9 credits they are required to submit a formal appeal to the Program Director. This policy does not apply to students who are currently in another graduate program at the University of Pittsburgh.

Permission Numbers:

If you are a degree-seeking graduate student currently enrolled in another graduate school at the University of Pittsburgh and use 'Self Service Enrollment', you will need a permission number in order to register. To obtain a permission number please contact icre@pitt.edu, in the email please include your full name, PeopleSoft number and the title of the course(s) you are interested in taking.
