Two faculty associated with the ICRE were elected to the Institute of Medicine (IOM) in October 2011. The IOM is the health branch of the National Academy of Sciences, and election to its membership is a high honor.
Jeanette South-Paul, MD, Andrew W. Mathieson Professor and chair of the Department of Family Medicine, plays an active role on the Advisory Committee of the Career Education and Enhancement for Health Care Research Diversity (CEED) Program and serves as an advisor to a CEED trainee.
Nancy Davidson, MD, the associate vice chancellor for cancer research and director of the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute and UPMC Cancer Centers, has been a mentor to trainees in ICRE career development programs.
