Wishwa Kapoor, MD, MPH

Dr. Kapoor is a nationally recognized physician-scientist with significant achievements in clinical education, research, and program leadership. He has been a pioneer in acquiring funding for and leading federally-funded clinical research training programs since 1999. Dr. Kapoor established the Institute for Clinical Research Education in 2005, and is driven by an earnest commitment to providing junior physician-scientists with mentorship, training, and experience that will enable them to become successful investigators and educators.

William H. Shrank, MD, MSHS
Chief Medical Officer, UPMC Insurance Services Division

Since being named Chief Medical Officer for the UPMC Health Plan in July 2016, Dr. Shrank has been applying his expertise in facilitating the development of innovations to improve the delivery of high-quality health care. With experience in academic medicine, business, and government, Dr. Shrank brings valuable leadership to the Learning Health System Fellowship. Prior to coming to UPMC, Dr. Shrank was Senior Vice President, Chief Scientific Officer, and Chief Medical Officer of Provider Innovation for CVS Health. Before that he served as Director of Evaluation in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ Innovation Center. He had joined CMS after eight years as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Dr. Shrank is a nationally-recognized thought-leader, having served on committees and advisory boards at the highest levels of national health care.
