Degree Programs
The Institute has developed customized courses to meet the needs of health sciences students and faculty. Our courses emphasize the multidisciplinary nature of clinical and translational research and engage adult learners by focusing upon applied approaches to skill-building.
- Certificate Programs
- We currently offer Certificates in both Clinical Research and Medical Education. Both programs require trainees to complete 15 units of coursework, which can typically be completed in one year.
- Certificate in Clinical Research
- The Certificate in Clinical Research offers training in the design and conduct of high quality clinical research involving human subjects. It is granted upon completion of the core curriculum in Clinical Research (10 credits), plus 5 additional credits of coursework that have been approved by the program. Trainees must complete 30 units of coursework, which generally requires 2-3 years depending on their clinical responsibilities.
- Master of Science (MS) in Clinical Research
- The Master of Science in Clinical Research offers training in the design and conduct of high quality clinical research involving human subjects. The degree requires completion of the core curriculum in Clinical Research (10 credits), the research design and development seminar series (5 credits), course requirements for one of the specialty tracks focused on research methodologies, and elective courses. Trainees may also complete courses for an optional area of concentration. In addition, all trainees must complete a final project/thesis. To read more about the MS in Clinical Research, click here.
- Master of Science (MS) in Medical Education
- The Master of Science in Medical Education consists of a tightly integrated curriculum with 3 components: (1) coursework plus observed teaching activities focusing on adult learning, classroom and clinical teaching skills, curriculum development, innovation in medical education, professional development, and medical administration; (2) additional courses to provide trainees with fundamental research skills; and (3) a project on curriculum development or a mentored research project.
