Expectations for CRSP Scholars

The CRSP provides a wonderful opportunity for scholars to jump-start their careers as multidisciplinary clinical investigators with protected time for research and training. We have developed a number of expectations for scholars that will help ensure their success.

  • Each scholar without an advanced clinical research degree is expected to obtain a Master of Science in Clinical Research or an equivalent master's degree.
  • Each scholar is expected to attend the biweekly CRSP Multidisciplinary Advisory Committee (MAC) meetings from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesdays.
  • Each scholar is expected to enroll in and participate in three courses through the Institute for Clinical Research Education (ICRE): an online course of Best Practices in Clinical Research, the Research Design and Development Seminar (Fall-Spring), and the Ethics and Regulations in Clinical Research (Spring).
  • Each scholar is expected to complete at least three modules of the University's online training in Research and Practice Fundamentals (Modules 1, 2, and 6). The modules can be accessed here: http://www.health.pitt.edu.
  • Each scholar is expected to present information about his or her research and research progress annually to the MAC with the scholar's mentors in attendance.
