Am I eligible for this program?
Students who are US citizens or permanent residents, who have completed at least one semester in a doctorate program, and who are in good academic standing, and are not funded on a federal training or as a GSR. Also, students must be able to devote 40 hours a week for 8 continuous weeks to research. Eligible students must be working on a multidisciplinary, clinical, or translational project.
Am I eligible for this program?
You are eligible if you are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, have completed at least one semester in a doctoral program, and are in good standing at the University of Pittsburgh. In addition, you must be able to devote 40 hours a week for 8 continuous weeks to research. During the program, you must be working on a multidisciplinary project that involves patient-oriented research (involves human subjects, tissues, or specimens; epidemiologic or behavioral studies; outcomes research; or health services research).
Will I be able to choose my topic and mentor?
Yes. You can also discuss your interests and goals with your school representative, who can suggest options for you.
Will I have a research publication as a result of my work?
Many summer trainees prepare a manuscript for publication during the summer or afterwards, almost all have a poster to present or publish their work in abstract form.

What is the stipend?
You will receive a stipend for the time that you participate. The amount is set by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and is $1731 per month.
